  • In an era where one’s soul can be morphed into a weapon, there are modern day magicians called ‘Mage-knights’. Kurogane Ikki, labelled as the is a student with particularly no talent in magic attends an institution that trains Mage-knights. Getting way less than average marks in the scorings, he was forced to repeat a year. But with the arrival of a new chairman (or was it principle?) of the institution, a new rule was created, that compatible knights (ability wise) decided by the board must share rooms and attend practice/training together throughout the school years to bring up their abilities to the max. A rule to implement the absolute verdict of ability.

By a weird (or rather expectable) turn of events, Ikki’s roommate turns out to be a princess of another foreign country called Stella Vermillion. Stella is a knight and a genius in magic who is said to only appear in a decade. ‘Walking in on her’ while she was changing her clothes caused a huge misunderstanding (since none of the sides yet knew of the new rule) which eventually ended up in a duel between the two of them. The punishment (or rather, the prize) of the loosing side is ‘Eternal Submission’ to the winning side.

The story centers around Stella and Ikki’s cohabitation. Developments and failures, all the while their relationship turns sweeter and sweeter.

I’m honestly not sure that his brother joined the festival for Stella. I’m pretty sure it’s because of Ikki. I guess we will see in due time.

Finally, we are almost there. We of course know what is going to happen but it’s still going to be epic and he’s going to censored on those loser’s faces.
I really hope that at the end of this story justice gets served to his family and that fat pig. Like life long imprisonment or something.

I get that it’s manga and fictional but nobody at the level his father is, is THAT stupid right? “Don’t try to be something you are not”. But he IS something, he censoreding proves it in the tournament over and over. Sigh, I hope we don’t get to see his father and his stupidity too much.

im sorry Anony, you just didn’t get what he meant. first of all he said “you can’t do anything, so don’t try.” he means you can’t change the system, stop trying to hurt the society futilely. stop giving false hopes and dreams to those like you who are ranked low. that’s what i believe he meant. he is trying to protect the society and avoid what could be some rebellious individuals. he has his own reasons and is not a stupid or insensitive bastard. sure, he is cold to ikki, but he is doing that thinking its the right thing for the most people, while ikki does it for his own selfishness. they are both right, and both wrong at the same time, which makes this plot actually quite good i believe ^.^

Much of what you are having problems with is the great cultural difference between eastern and western systems.  Western have been much more focus on self/religion (in relation to self) especially after the enlightenment while the east more on family/lord/system.  Neither is wholly right or wrong.  There is benefit for the individual and society for a stable guiding system.  There is also benefit for self/independence.  This manga seems to focus much on this conflict (note: not limited to east vs west, just we see the disparity well with each system).

Ehm, no? I know what I read and he’s acting as if people cannot become what they want with determination and hard work.
As if by using a ranking system for everyone wherein everyone’s role is clearly defined based on the result of said system everything will peachy in the country.
Not even a country like Japan works like that. Sure they have a strong sense of family and working for the “the greater good” (being their company most of the time) but also in Japan everyone (bare some exceptions that have really poor family circumstances) can go to school and get into a uni or college later on (which one is determined by a horrible system just like the horribly managed one in the states) no matter their innate ability. Sure one can be better at one thing or worse at another, but it’s not because you lack a certain talent you can’t work hard and still make it. Sure the ones with the nack for it will have it somewhat easier and might reach certain levels faster and easier.
It’s probably also so that the ones that a certain talent for a certain area will be better most of the time compared to those that don’t have it, but that is not set in stone.

That’s what his father is all about. That everyone fits perfectly into little little sections (based on some definite test). It would be like if suddenly a country would decide to make the IQ test the defacto standard for what you can achieve in life. Get a score of below 110? Sorry, you cannot be profession x.
Society, even one with special powers, doesn’t work like that, it’s not logical, it’s not a simple “machine”. I get that he wants to get all the blazers working together and using a hierarchy is logical to some extent. But strictly enforcing everyone’s role by means of a standardized test is severely lacking. He is working with people, and people evolve. He should be an engineer or something not the CEO of corp. blazers.
